I have been working as a carer with Holidays 4 Dogs for 3 years now. I have met some wonderful dogs and made some very good friends too. We all share such a love of dogs that so often we have so much in common, it's like we are old friends. I love the fact that regular dogs come back all the time and I know we shouldn't but we do have our favourites! Gill Atkinson.

The booking and administration is always very efficient. Working with Holidays 4 Dogs takes away all the hassle of organising myself. All I need to do is say when I am available and yes or no to dogs offered to me. Then I just look after the dogs in the best possible way I know how, that's the easy bit. Lucy Wood.

I really enjoy working with Holidays 4 Dogs and the company of the dogs I have coming is absolutely wonderful. I love walking so having a dog with me fits in so well too. I have also met loads of new people out walking, somehow when you have a dog people stop and chat more. I know all the names of all the local dogs but I can't say I remember all the owners names. It is nice to be part of such a professional team and always know that there is someone on the other end of the phone or close at hand to help if I had a problem. I value the insurance too, I wouldn't dream of taking on the responsibility of looking after other peoples pets without it. I'm quite new to Holidays 4 Dogs so it is difficult for me to speak too much from experience but what I can say is that immediately I have felt like I am onto a winner. Our first dog stay went really well. We were really sad to see Archie go home but are already looking forward to our next guest who has a confirmed stay after we met the other week. I tell everyone I know about what I do and so many people comment that they bet that is lovely. If everyone was at home then I think we'd all do it! I have had a lot of people approach me interested in having heard about what I do but I always pass them onto head office and then they get back to me to see if I am free. I had a couple of people ask me and their dogs were really strong and I wasn't sure I could manage them. The office dealt with everything so well, I was worried that it'd be awkward because I saw these people a lot locally but they were so happy with the alternative carer Holidays 4 Dogs found for them when I was 'busy' that nothing more was said. I love the fact that I can meet my choice of dog before they stay and that I can be totally happy with any dogs coming. At first I was worried about this but it works so well that now I feel more and more confident that the dogs I get introduced to are exactly what I want. I always find the ladies in the head office so friendly and helpful and I always feel I can call them any time. I even like the fact that the money side is all sorted too. I'd hate to have to ask for money from anyone but all the owners (I'd actually have the dogs for free!) I have had have been so well informed over payment that it's all ready and correct so I don't need to pop the question. I already have a dog of my own and initially enquired with Holidays 4 Dogs to board my own dog then I realised I could be a carer too. My husband wasn't keen for us to get a second dog of our own but was in perfect agreement at becoming a Holidays 4 Dogs carer. My dog Barney loves the company of other dogs and as I am at home all day anyway and walk my own dog it is so easy to have another dog to stay too. In fact Barney loves the company so much I think he actually misses his friends a lot when they have to go home. It's is so lovely to see him playing with our guests, especially the Spaniels. For a middle aged boy he's like a young pup again. I don't think Barney would ever forgive me if I stopped inviting guests, his life would seem so dull! I would recommend being a Holidays 4 Dogs carer to any owner of a sociable dog with the right circumstances. When you have one dog my feeling is well, you may as well have two. J. Broadbent
