A. We cover all of Yorkshire, Lincolnshire & much of England and Wales but are always expanding our area. Please check on the map for areas now covered or ring Head Office on 0800 2300 266 to check availability local to you.

Q. What will I need to provide for my dog?

A. You will need to provide everything you would expect if your dogs was staying with family or friends including enough food for the duration of your dogs stay and any treats allowed, favourite toys and grooming equipment, any medication and of course your dog's own bed. Collars and leads must be supplied also.

Q. Does the time that I leave or collect my dog effect the cost?

A. No. We charge by the calendar date and not by the 24 hours. This means that you have your carer available all day on the day that you wish to leave your dog and on the day you wish to collect your dog (particularly early and late times by prior arrangement with the carer). This gives you complete flexibility.

Q. When is the fee paid for my booking?

A. The fee is made up of two parts. First you pay a booking fee to Holidays 4 Dogs to confirm your dogs stay once you have visited your dog's carer. The booking fee is part of the daily rate and not in addition to it. Then secondly the balance of the fee is due when you deliver your dog to your carer and is paid directly to the carer by cash or cheque.

Q. Does my dog need to be vaccinated?

A. Yes. Your dog must be up to date with all its annual vaccinations and copies provided. Kennel Cough prevention treatment is not required. Your dog must also be wormed and flea treated before being placed with us. 'Frontline Spot on Dog' for flea treatment and prevention is recommended (available from your vet). If there is any medical reason why your dog is not vaccinated, it could be possible your dogs could stay with one of our non-dog owning carers where it will not be in contact with any other dogs, please discuss with us by calling 0800 2300 266.

Q. My dog usually sleeps on my bed. Will the carer allow him to do this?

Q. Does my dog need to be medically insured to stay?

A. No. Veterinary insurance is completely your decision. Some owners like to have their pets insured & leave policy details with us, others prefer to pay for Veterinary expenses if & when they are required.

Q. Does my dog have to wear a collar?

A. Yes. This is essential at all times as your dog will wear a Holidays 4 Dogs I.D tag.

Q. Are there any extra charges?

A. When registering on line there is no registration fee however a one off registration fee of £10 may be made on telephone bookings. Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day are subject to an additional charge of £10 per day made payable directly to your dogs carer.

Q. What if I have to cancel or postpone my holiday. Will I lose my booking fee?

A. The booking fee is non-refundable, however depending on the circumstances of holiday cancellation/postponement and notice given, partial refunds may be possible.

Q. My dog is on medication. Is it alright for the carer to administer this?

A. Yes certainly – please give full details and keep us updated on your dogs condition.

Q. My dog loves kids but knows when he's had enough. How can I explain this to my carer and are my carer's children going to understand this?

A. All Holidays 4 Dogs carers who have children are all of school age and up and are old enough to understand dogs. All our carers understand the need not to over-fuss new dogs staying. We expect you to be honest and open about your dog and any worries you may have, so that we can do our best for both you and your dog.

Q. My dog doesn't like to do it's business in the garden, is this a problem?

A. No, but it's helpful to know. All our dogs are regularly walked according to their needs. Your carer can make sure your dog leaves the garden more frequently.

Q. Can I stay with a different carer next time?

A. Yes, not a problem. You can do this although often we find clients prefer to stay with the same carer time after time, as familiarity helps your dog to settle well.

Q. What if I visit my suggested carer and I have some problems?

A. Let us know and we will make every effort to provide an alternative carer for your dog. Any feedback about our carers you may wish to give us is always appreciated and helps us select the right carer in the future.

Q. My dog mustn't be let off the lead or he runs off. Will this be a problem?

A. Your dog will be exercised according to your wishes. If you say he stays on the lead, then he certainly does.

Q. Will my dog's carer allow my dog off lead if I want them too?

A. Yes most will, but always after a period of say 2 days depending on the dog whereby we become familiar with them, they with us & also the surroundings in which they are staying. The area your dog is let off the lead in will always be a safe area & away from any roads, livestock & obvious hazards (not necessarily enclosed). If an owner insists that they want their dog let off then the carer must be in agreement and you must accept full responsibility and liability for your dog while off the lead if your dog runs away, gets lost, causes an accident, bites someone or gets into a fight with another dog. Many owners are happy to supply a flexi lead as an alternative. Please do discuss with us.

Q. Do you accept puppies?

A. Some carers are prepared to accept puppies, so long as they are house trained (or certainly well on the way) - generally from 6 months old – do ask. If crate trained crates must be provided.

Q. I have two dogs. Do Holidays 4 Dogs accept more than single dogs?

A. Yes. Most of our carers accept two dogs from the same household. We NEVER split dogs that usually live together. We also accept 3 or more dogs from the same household in select homes.

Q. How far ahead do I have to book?

A. As far ahead as possible. We do get very busy and hate to disappoint. Also, if you have booked before, it is always nice to book with the same carer where possible. We do try and accommodate last minute bookings, but it is far easier if you can try to book in advance.

Q. Do you do pensioner discounts?

A. No, sorry.
