Fun dog events this summer!

Finally, it seems spring has arrived and many of us will be enjoying sunnier, (and drier) days walking our dogs in the great outdoors.  It’s time to think about holidays and summery, fun packed days out so Holidays4Dogs have found some fantastic UK wide dog events to attend with your four legged pals.

The Muddy Dog Challenge, (lets hope its not too muddy in the summer!), organised by Battersea Dogs Home, is a dog friendly obstacle course that sounds like loads of fun for dogs and owners alike and takes place at various venues across the UK over Spring,  Summer and Autumn.   By taking part, you will be helping the dogs home to continue to provide care for thousands of unwanted dogs abandoned every year.

You don’t need to be super fit to join in, but reasonable fitness will help as there are two courses to choose from – 2.5km and 5km obstacle runs.  You don’t have to run with your dog if you don’t want to as teams or individual owners can enter, as well as dog-human teams.

Take along friends and family to cheer you on and get involved in other activities and competitions being held on the day.  At each event there will always be first aid and veterinary cover.  Here’s the dates and places! Find out more here

The Big Doggie Do (we love the name!) is back again this year for another thrilling two days of dog shows and entertainment with the ever popular have-a-go areas like K9 Aqua sport and agility.  The event is free and is open from midday until 5pm on both days in May (Saturday and Sunday 25th and 26th) and is located at Willen Lake South, in Milton Keynes

Paws in the Park takes place this year in May and September over two weekends in Sussex and Kent.  The Sussex event takes place on the 18th and 19th May at the South of England Showground, Ardingly and the Kent show is on the 14th and 15th September at The Kent Showground, Detling.

You could spend the day or you could plan a whole weekend of fun and games and camp overnight.

There will plenty of entertainment on offer with arena displays and demonstrations as well as trade stands and opportunity to shop for all manner of canine goodies.  As well as being able to see some famous dog entertainment acts, you and your dog will also be able to join in with many of the have-a-go activities on offer such as flyball, and agility – you can even test your dog’s ability in search and rescue!

There will also be companion dog shows which are open to all breeds, including crossbreeds and incorporating fun and novelty classes.  Advance booking prices range from 10 pounds for a single adult entry to 31 pounds for a family of 2 adults and up to 3 children – dogs go free!  You can book tickets on line here :-
